suit up

I wrote about shoes in my last post unaware the enemy's wiles would soon involve pairs of them - 666 to be exact. I'm sure you've head about them by now: black satanic shoes imprinted with a pentagram and each containing a single drop of human blood.

Several early mornings have passed since and each one has found me praying and pleading with God to protect the enemy's primary audience in his latest attack - our youth. I've also pondered, why shoes? Immediately I remembered that God's armor includes and instructs a covering for our feet: the preparation of the gospel of peace.

Isn't it like the enemy to try to produce a counterfeit?

Interestingly enough, Paul writes to the church about the armor of God so we would be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. In Ephesians chapter six, he goes on to warn us that

we don't wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, powers, rulers of the darkness of this world and spiritual wickedness.

I see it all around and if it were not for the battle plan God lays out through Paul, I would be crushed under its weight.

In verse 13, Paul reminds us again that this armor is for such a time as this.

Therefore put on the whole armor of God so that we can withstand in the evil day.

I pray I need not remind you we are in such a day for I hope you are awake, watching, praying without ceasing, fully suited up and standing as Paul admonished.

As hard as the days in which we are in may be and as disturbing as the news of these ridiculous shoes is, let it do exactly the opposite of its intent. Let it remind us that our feet indeed should be covered with and continuously bringing the gospel of peace into our homes and to every place we go.

This is how we fight out battles. Be strong in the power of the Spirit of the living God and be encouraged by this promise from Psalm 121:7,

The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil.

Beautiful warriors, it's time to suit up and stand up.

With my whole heart,

Callie

If you're like me, you know God has a call on your life and you see the great need of fulfilling it, but you may not always be sure what that is. Since March of last year I've been asking the Lord, what is my duty in this present crisis? God graced me to write and by his hand of providence, aloud to be published, a 30 day devotion book that is aimed to help those hungry to know more about the calling God has on their lives.
